Cuppa For CANSA | 20 Shades of Pink:

We are so excited to be finally launching our blog! This is a long dreamed of, and hoped for moment for us. We love creating beauty around us, and to be able to share it with you is such a privilege. We hope you will stick around with us, and enjoy our creative discoveries, our explorations, and our love for all things pretty!

We have long discussed what a worthy first blog should be about, we even possibly over analysed it. Our passion for perfection, and love for finicky details is a glorious trait in the weddings and events industry, but left us feeling a little daunted by all the wonderful & talented bloggers out there, and their amazing content that they share with the world. So, ignoring the flutterbyes in our bellies, and perfection aside, we decided to just share some of our journey with you.

Somewhere in our process of letting go of having a perfect “first blog” topic, I think we found one! A Cuppa For CANSA charity high tea event with the theme, “20 Shades of Pink”.

We had the privilege of being a sponsor at a Cuppa For CANSA event that was hosted during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ethelene Galgut & Alison Newborn were the two incredible ladies who took on the mammoth task of putting together a delicious and perfectly executed high tea to create awareness & raise funds for this worthy cause. These generous-hearted ladies were exceptional in rallying over 30 different sponsors to pull this event together. They worked tirelessly to make this event a success, and they did it with such flair!

20 guests arrived to a spectacular display of 20 shades of pink, and spent a delightful morning enjoying themselves while supporting CANSA’s Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) programme. The ladies successfully raised R10000 for this initiative! Such a big well done to them!

Ethelene gave us a brief summary of what this money goes towards: “The TLC (Tough Living with Cancer) Lodge is based at The Steve Biko Hospital. This programme supports children, teens and families affected by cancer – especially focusing on awareness of childhood cancers and early detection. Their aim is to improve the quality of support for children and teens traumatised by cancer, as well as their parents and siblings.”

We had such fun playing with gorgeous pink blooms and finding the most feminine and girly side to ourselves. We made up little cupcake flower arrangements in keeping with the high tea theme. We clustered fragrant garden roses into sweet little posies, and dotted them around in crystal vases, and vintage silverware. We also filled some of Ethelene’s beautiful delicately patterned bone china teacups with our signature teacup arrangements. Angie picked fresh bougainvillaea from her garden, and filled exquisite vases with their trailing stems. It was floral bliss!

We made up pretty paper dahlia-shaped pom poms, and strung them up from the awning over the lawn where the ladies would be sitting during the morning.

Ali was the wonder woman behind the food! While some of the delicacies on display for the ladies were sponsored by various patisseries, the majority of the mouth-watering treats were made lovingly by Ali.

Ethelene was so lovely in her thanks to us. “A very special thanks to Joanna and Angie of The Rose Cafe. Your flowers were the making of my pink Wonderland.”

We were so happy to have been able to be a part of this special day.

In amongst the profusion of pink prettiness, perhaps you will be inspired to host a Cuppa for CANSA too?
